SEATTLE, Washington — March 31, 2009 — Übermind, Inc., the makers of iLightr, one of the most popular lighter simulation applications available on the iPhone, today unveiled a version of their application for the Android platform. With support for the iPhone, iPod touch, and now Android, iLightr creates the most realistic virtual lighter experience available on any mobile device.
“We didn’t just take the iPhone version and port it over to Android,” said Jean-Guy Speton, Lead Developer for the Android version of iLightr. “This is a complete re-implementation, making for an interactive flame that is more photo realistic than anything else out there.”
Rather than a static image or stale, unchanging video loop of a flame, iLightr combines high-resolution OpenGL graphics (designed by an Academy Award winning special effects artist), dynamic sound effects, and accelerometer support to create the only truly interactive lighter simulation available on the Android platform.

On Friday night’s show of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, in response to the upcoming iPhone OS 3.0 software update, Jimmy demonstrated the wow factor of Apple’s addictive touchscreen device with none other than our very own iLightr application. Being fans of the gifted comic ourselves, can you say Slow Jam The News?, we were honored to be featured in the segment by the former SNL cast member.
And after some digging around the web, iLightr lead developer Bryan Hansen learned that there is some common ground we both share. A mutual admiration of turning ideas into 1′s and 0′s. He was once a computer science major in college but ended up switching once “it got really confusing”. Let’s face it, Saturday Night Live definitely wouldn’t have had that spark, I had to work that in at some point right?, without the likes of Jimmy Fallon’s antics. And we’re grateful he finally gave us our close-up, literally! So sit back and enjoy the clip…
